Synopsis:

The aim of this train the trainer course is to provide the learner with the core skills and knowledge to understand what makes a successful trainer. The train trainer course covers areas such as: learning styles of delegates, learning process and the training process. The second day of the course allows the learner to create their own training courses and looks at content, timings, transfer strategies and how to present effectively.

Pre-Requisites:

To pre prepare for this train the trainer course each delegate will need to supply a 7-10 minute training presentation on a topic of their choice.

Course Outline:

The train trainer course is split in to two areas:

  • Core Skills – the core skills to be a successful trainer
  • Course Creation – developing your internal training content, materials, notes, timings and presentation aids.

Course Content:

Train the Trainer Core Skills –

  • What is train the trainer training?
  • What are the core competencies of training?
  • Training as part of the wider development process
  • What are the organisational responsibilities?
  • The training cycle – an introduction to training needs analysis and effective evaluation
  • Learning motivations and how it may affect the learning environment
  • What individuals learn and what training can realistically deliver
  • The learning process
  • Developing self-esteem within the group
  • Managing team dynamics through effective facilitation techniques
  • Managing difficult delegates
  • Understand the 4 learning phases, identify current practice and identify improvements
  • Learning style, Kolb’s Cycle explained
  • “Accelerated learning” explained
  • Explore group dynamics and techniques for managing groups and individuals
  • Understanding the learning styles of a group
  • Evaluation techniques explored

Course Creation –

  • Individual Presentation 1 – 7-10 minutes (videoed for feedback)
  • Identify key components of preparing environment and self
  • Opening, main body and conclusions
  • Course content – is it pitched for the delegate

  • Transfer Strategies – role plays, group work, practical exercises, Presentation Skills
