Synopsis: 

This workshop is designed for people who are influencing & negotiating at the strategic level internally & externally of their organisation. 

Aims & Objectives:

By the end of the workshop they will understand the style of influencing most appropriate for their communication style & which situations they are appropriate.  They will know when how to apply influencing or negotiation techniques depending on the people involved and the situation to be resolved.

Course Content:

This workshop uses coaching techniques to help the attendee clearly identify areas for development within influencing and negotiating. 

Individual questionnaires & short discussions of theory will also be used in order to identify the most appropriate tools, techniques and models for the attendee to apply to their work situations.

Introduction to Negotiation Skills

  • Assertive, aggressive, passive behaviours

 Communication Styles –

  •  4 primary styles & 4 secondary styles

  •  Identifying your own style & how can you adapt it

  •  How to avoid secondary styles in yourself & those you are influencing or negotiating with.
  •  Verbal & non verbal communication

Influencing Styles –

  • Which of the 12 styles is most appropriate for you?

  • Where to use different styles

  • Influencing using powers

Negotiating –

  • Planning models -what do you need/want, what do they need/want

  • PROBE,POSE

  • Adapting influencing & communication styles to different models for different situations.

  • Applying negotiation skills

  • Buying & selling exercises
