Synopsis;
This 1 day interactive workshop is designed to support line managers by providing tips on how to proactively manage both difficult people and situations at work and how to use preventative measures in order to avoid disciplinary situations.

Course Content;
The following topics will be covered:-

Dealing with Difficult People

  • Dealing with people who are aggressive, cynical or obstructive
  • Identifying and dealing with the underlying causes of ''difficult behaviour''

Dealing with Difficult Situations

  • Typical situations you may face at work and ways of dealing with them
  • Dealing with situations and events rather than personalities.

Tips for Dealing with Conflict

  • A model for managing conflict
  • Tips for keeping calm
  • How to resolve problems and move forward 

Learning Outcomes;

At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Approach people problems with increased confidence and an enhanced understanding of the reasons behind colleagues' behaviour.
  • Understand techniques, which can be adopted to overcome negative or aggressive behaviour.
  • Explain when and how the disciplinary policy should be utilised.
